How did it help?

| The Ulrich Museum of Art in Wichita, Kansas has many types of publications and written works, but no single document that established standards in writing across them. They had a few cheat sheets here and there, but often employees would have to ask the director of the museum how something should be formatted or punctuated. A unique challenge was that some written works defer to Chicago style, where others defer to AP. The guide had to help museum employees easily distinguish which stylistic choices were preferred for each format. |
The style guide is a 25-page document that covers standards for grammar and punctuation, as well as guidelines for gallery labels, newsletters, exhibition checklists, illustration captions, and bibliographies. It covers all the common scenarios and points outside references for further consultation. |
With this consolidated and comprehensive style guide, museum employees have the answers at their fingertips, and the director’s time is freed up for more important matters. |
